God who created us
Hear us, hear our prayer.

Ka hāpai ake ō mātou whakawhētai,
ō mātou īnoi
ō mātou mihi whakanui koremutu.
Āmine
God,
our tears fall
for those who now rest in you
we lift to you
our thanks,
our hopes,
and our unending praise
amen.

E te Atua kaha rawa, God of strength unending.
Your prophet Isaiah warned the people
To return to you. And so too, he warns us.
We your church have work to do, to
Be your light in the world -
“stop doing wrong.
Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.”
Help us, as your church worldwide,
To stand for Your justice,
To watch with You,
To pray with You,
To never be afraid.
Bless our ministries,
Among the young,
The old,
the lonely,
Those in hospital,
Those in prison,
Those facing conflict and danger;
Those facing anxiety & illness;
Those facing the end of life;
Those at the beginning of life.
Grant us, your Church,
your compassion,
Your love, tētahi ki tētahi – one for another.

When the hour comes, o Lord,
let us be ready.

E te Tama arohaina, Beloved Son
You told us:
“Do not be afraid, little flock,
for your Father has been pleased
to give you the kingdom.”
You told us to be ready, to be alert,
For your return.
Until that time
We ask for your healing blessing
upon the dark places of the world,
where-ever there is dissension, envy, strife, disease,
and a hunger that can never be satisfied.
Help us to be your hands and your feet
in this world that needs you so desperately.
When the hour comes, o Lord,
let us be ready.
[We pray for our communities and for our own needs.]
E te Wairua Tapu, Blessed Spirit,
We pray in hope
for you to go before us
in the places where we are;
Where we work, where we live, where we study,
where we gather, where we spend time in solitude.
We pray in silence for our communities,
and for what we need for every day.
You know what we need.
Guide us, Blessed Spirit in the days to come,
To turn to our God.
Hear these prayers
we offer for all your faithful people;
that we may serve you
in holiness and in truth.
When the hour comes, o Lord,
let us be ready.
