Orientation Day at the Anglican Centre
The Anglican Centre in Wellington saw nearly fifty people from across the Diocese gather for the annual Orientation Day last week.
Orientation day provides the chance to connect, ask questions, and get to know the people behind the scenes who provide parish life support services.
Clergy, vestry members, admin staff, and volunteers made the trip from all corners of the Diocese from Whanganui and the Wairarapa to just down the road at the Anglican Chinese Mission. The day was all about whakawhanaungatanga and was shown during morning tea conversations and at lunch.
In a “speed dating” style format, groups rotated through different Anglican Centre teams, meeting the folks behind payroll, HR, property, communications, insurance, finance, and more. It was a chance to put faces to names, share stories, and see how the mahi at the Centre supports the everyday work of parishes.
Ben Pringle, Diocesan Manager, said it was a real joy to host so many people. “We’re so thankful that people took the day out to spend it with us,” he said. “We consider our mahi here to be ministry and a service to people on the ground in parishes.”
He added, “Our doors are always open for people to chat with us. Orientation Day is just one way we try to make our support visible and accessible.”
The day wrapped up with poroporoaki time of acknowledgement where learnings wer gleaned and thanks was offered to those who made the day happen.
Manuhiri left with smiles and new connections.
