In Memoriam - Reverend Dr Hugo Petzsch
Bishops Justin and Eleanor ask us to join in prayer for the friends and family of Rev Dr Hugo Petzsch who passed away on 15 January in Kent, UK. In our Diocese Hugo was parish priest at St Barnabas Church, Roseneath, Wellington and then combined being part-time priest at St Barnabas Church with being part time VUW Chaplain before he and the family moved to the UK. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

In Memoriam - Canon Colin Wright
Bishops Justin and Eleanor ask us to join in prayer for the friends and family of Canon Colin Wright who passed away on Christmas Day. In the Diocese of Wellington he was Chaplain at the Porirua hospitals (1985-89), Vicar of Eastbourne (1989-2001) and chaplain at Wellesley College (1991-2000). He was appointed a Canon of the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul in 1990 and Canon Emeritus in 2000.
Colin's funeral was held in early January at Nelson Cathedral. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

In Memoriam - Reverend George Spargo
Bishops Justin and Eleanor ask us to join in prayer for the friends and family of Rev George Spargo, who passed away on 31st December 2021. Rev. George’s ministry in our diocese was in the Parishes of Tinui, Petone and Otaki. A family cremation service was held in early January. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
Rev Judith & Roger Wigglesworths - Co-leaders in Carterton
Rev. Judith and Roger Wigglesworth commenced as Co-leaders in Charge in the Parish of Carterton on an interim basis with effect from 26 December 2021.
Rev. Peter Benge moves to City Mission
Rev. Peter concludes his time as Vicar of Lower Hutt at the end of January and moves to the Wellington City Mission to work as a counsellor in the Transitional Housing area.
Peter says, “I feel privileged to have been able to serve as a Priest in this diocese.”

Revs Andy & Bek Hickman appointed to Onslow
The Bishops of Wellington are delighted to announce the appointment of Reverends Bek and Andy Hickman as co-leaders for Onslow Parish. They have a family of four daughters: Abigail (15), Lizzy (13), Grace (12) and Ena (10).
Rev. Andy Eldred - pursues passion for food and music
Rev. Andy Eldred will be stepping down as Vicar at St Mark’s, Carterton from 25 December.
He will be taking a break from Church leadership and full time ministry and will be setting up a food trailer in Carterton that will feature and celebrate live music. Andy says this is “another way of being Church where people are,” and that it will also allow him “to pursue two of my passions, bringing joy through Food and Music.”

Revs Richard and Rebecca Apperley appointed to Newlands
The Bishops of Wellington are excited to announce the appointment of the Reverends Rebecca and Richard Apperley as Co-Priests in Charge in the Parish of St Michael and All Angels, Newlands-Paparangi. They will take up this role during February 2022.

In Memoriam - Reverend Robyn Appleby
Bishops Justin and Eleanor are deeply saddened to share the news that Reverend Robyn Appleby passed away peacefully on Friday 29 October following a very recent cancer diagnosis only a few weeks earlier. Robyn was ordained deacon then priest in 2020, serving in All Saints, Palmerston North parish. Robyn also served as an NZCMS Mission Partner at Msalato Theological College in Dodoma, Tanzania.
We ask you to uphold her family and church community in your prayers at this time.
A memorial service will be held in due course.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

In Memoriam - Reverend Margaret Carr
Bishops Justin and Eleanor ask us to join in prayer for the friends and family of Rev Margaret Carr, who passed away recently. Rev Margaret was in the Order of the Community of the Sacred Name before becoming ordained in 1988 and then working as a hospital chaplain. Her husband is Antonin Moore.
