Revs Richard and Rebecca Apperley appointed to Newlands

The Bishops of Wellington are excited to announce the appointment of the Reverends Rebecca and Richard Apperley as Co-Priests in Charge in the Parish of St Michael and All Angels, Newlands-Paparangi. They will take up this role during February 2022.

Richard and Rebecca were ordained priest last week at the Cathedral. Together they have most recently been leading the Cathedral’s Café Church congregation, and leading an intentional community of emerging leaders. Rebecca works at the Anglican Centre as the Bishops’ Projects Coordinator. Richard has most recently been employed as Cathedral Manager and Assistant Organist. They have two children – Edie (14) and Nate (11), as well as Pete the rescue dog and 7 chickens.

All of us as God’s people are called on a constant journey of seeking what God is doing and discerning what our invitation is to join in with this. Richard in particular has been part of the Cathedral family in various roles almost continuously since he was 18, and this will be a big change for them all. Will you join in holding Richard, Rebecca, Edie and Nate in prayer during this time of transition.

Rebecca and Richard write: “We are so excited about the opportunity to join in with you all in exploring God’s heart for the Newlands community. Thank you so much to the Wardens and Nominators who have guided this process, and Reverend Tim Handley for all he has done in the parish over a long season.”
