Prayers inspired by original prayers, Isaiah 12, 65:17-25,2 Thess 3:6-13, Luke 21:5-19

 [We gather - An approach]

 E te Atua o te aroha
Ka tangi o mātou ngākau ki a Koe
Mō rātou kua wehe
Auē te aroha.
Ka wehi o mātou ngākau
i ngā mahi hē o tēnei ao.

“Nana, ko te Atua toku whakaoranga;
ka whakawhirinaki ahau,
 e kore ano e wehi; ko te Ariki hoki,
ko IHOWA toku kaha,
taku waiata,
ko ia ano hei whakaoranga moku.”

Loving God -
Our hearts cry out to You
For those who have departed from us.
In love, we weep.
Our hearts are also afraid,
As we see the wrongs done in this world.

But “Surely God is my salvation;
    I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defence;
    he has become my salvation.”

Bidding and Response:
In You we will trust, Lord
We need never be afraid.

[We pray for the Church]

For the Church.
Ihu, Jesus.
Strengthen your Church
To be Your body in the world.
In times of doubt and fear;
In times of uncertainty;
Gather us, hold us.
Bless our ministries, our leadership, our sacred places.
Grant us courage to act in love;
May we never tire of doing what is good,
Even as we fail and fall and try again.
Grant us again the courage to always hold on to You -
Our rock, our port in the storm, the path we are to follow

In You we will trust, Lord
We need never be afraid.

[We pray for the world]

E te Wairua Tapu
tau mai rā.
We pray for Your presence in our world;
With all who suffer now,
With all who weep,
With all who are afraid;
With all who have no hope,
In places of political strife, of war,
Of disaster, of people and nature.
May You prompt the willing
to act now
and to love now.
But help us also to know
that the day will come when
All will be made right.

The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
    and the lion will eat straw like the ox,
    and dust will be the serpent’s food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all [Your] holy mountain.

In You we will trust
And need never be afraid.

[We pray for our communities and for our own needs.]

E te Tokotoru Tapu, Holy Trinity:
Bless us in our communities;
Our neighbourhoods,
Our marae,
in all our gathering places;
in all our languages.
Help us to see Your image in those we live next to;
In those we see every day;
And in those we ignore or avoid every day.
We lift to you now our prayers for our own needs;
And the prayers we don’t know how to say.

In You we will trust, Lord
We need never be afraid.
