A preparation

E te Atua tahuri mai rā

Awhinatia mātou,

Tiaho mai tō māramatanga

God, turn to us

Help us

Bring us your clarity.

Engari, e te Atua

ka tangi mātou

mō rātou kua wehe ki tua o te ārai

okioki ai

ratou ki a rātou

And yet, God,

we weep

for those who have passed beyond the veil

to rest -

For we who remain -

we worship you-

We give you our thanks-

Forever, we praise you-

Amen.

Let us pray for the church and the world

E te Atua

You have left us free to serve and choose what we want;

We see, in the world,

The powerful who choose glory and to inflict pain -

In the name of a national ideal, an unquenchable desire; some false idol.

Help us, your church to show a different way:

That we are set free to serve you

And to be your work in the world.

That we are set free to love You

Then grant us the capacity to love Your creation.

Bidding: Slaves to sin no more, we choose to turn to you.

Response: may your peace be upon us.

We thank you for our communities;

For the places we stand,

For the hills we lift our eyes to,

For the people with whom we connect.

Help us to make it possible,

in the face of all hardship, seen and unseen,

In these places,

And with these people,

That the fruit of Your grace be manifest in us:

For the wages of sin is death,

but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Bidding: Slaves to sin no more, we choose to turn to you.

Response: may your peace be upon us.

E te Atua

Be with us this week;

In all that awaits us,

The hardships, the joys,

Loneliness and busyness,

No matter what,

Like Ethan, may we also,

In our own ways:

“sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth

I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.”

Amen.
