An approach, an acknowledgement.

E te Atua Aroha
E tuwhera ana ō mātou ngākau ki a koe;
Kia horoia e Koe ngā roimata o ngā kanohi katoa,
mō rātou kua hinga ; ka mōhio -
‘Ka koa te hunga e tangi ana: ka whakamārietia hoki rātou.’
Rātou, te hunga mate ki a rātou;
Mātou te hunga ora ki a mātou
Titiro atawhai mai,
Aroha mai,
Ake, ake
Āmine

God of Love,
Our hearts are open to You.
Wash away the tears,
from the faces of those who mourn those who have passed;

For we know:
‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted’
May those who have passed rest in you,
We who live still,
Look kindly upon us.
Always.
Amen.

[For the Church.]

E te Atua kaha rawa
You are our God;
There is none before you.
As your Church,
Your image bearers,
all around the world, and in this land,
we must open our mouths –
tell of the good news
of the Upside Down kingdom:
That the poor in spirit are Blessed -
That those who mourn are Blessed-
That the meek are Blessed; those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, too;
Blessed too are those who are merciful, pure in heart,
Those who make peace; and those who suffer for Your sake.
Grant us to strength to tell this news and to be as Christ in this world.

Bidding & Response
We take refuge in You, O God.
Hear our prayer.

[We pray for the world and for this place.]

Giver of life, Creator.
We pray for Your world;
For its intricate systems of life, death and renewal.
Where we have harmed what you have made,
helps us to repent and turn our own hands to Your purposes.
Instil in us love for Your creation and for Your creatures,
We also pray for those many people
who can make small, good differences
in the places of conflict and suffering;
of political turmoil,
all around our world.
Grant them strength to do Your work,
whether or not they know You.

We take refuge in You, O God.
Hear our prayer.

[We pray for our communities and for our own needs.]

E te Tokotoru Tapu,
Holy Trinity
Bless our us where we are.
Whether we sit with pain, with loss,
with heartache, or where we have turned our face from You

“Grant we pray, that we may hasten without stumbling
to receive the things you have promised.”

May your spirit work
Through us
And with us
all just the same.

We take refuge in You, O God.
Hear our prayer.

Amen.
