Prayer on Every Street – And It’s Glorious!

Prayer walking is covering our streets… and it’s blown us away.

From Karori to Kilbirnie, from Tawa to the Terrace, Waikanae to Wadestown something sacred is unfolding on our streets. Our parishes, our mission units, our faithful walkers have stepped out in prayer, and it’s beautiful.

We’re in Eastertide, moving toward Pentecost, and there’s no better time to be asking God to move more fully in our neighbourhoods. And you’ve done just that. Prayer walks have become holy ground, literally and spiritually. Whether it's a quiet loop around your block, a strategic walk past the schools and shops, or a crew walking in unity on Sunday afternoons, it’s happening. And heaven is listening.

The Holy Ground app is lighting up with stories of streets prayed over, homes blessed, and corners claimed in Jesus’ name. We’ve seen prayers for healing, hope, safety, restoration, and for God’s love to be known in every nook and cranny of our cities.

See here for more information.

It’s not just a lovely idea. It’s revival, street by street.

As Bishop Anashuya reminded us, “There is something profoundly sacred about walking our streets in prayer.” And we feel it. These streets are where we live, work, struggle, raise families, and love our neighbours. And now they’re being covered in intentional intercession. That’s no small thing.

It’s amazing to see how, in this season of resurrection, the church is not just celebrating that Jesus rose, we’re living it out. We’re walking, praying, and listening, because we believe God’s Spirit is already ahead of us, ready to transform. And we’re not done yet.

So, let’s keep going! Let’s fill in every gap on the Holy Ground map. Let’s keep showing up with our shoes laced and hearts open. Let’s call down heaven on our suburbs and shops, our skate parks and school gates. Let’s bless every home we pass, every footpath we walk, and every community we love.

Because this is what the church looks like when it’s alive. It’s on the move, in prayer, in unity.

We’re so proud of what God is doing in and through you.

Let’s keep praying.
