An acknowledgment
E Ihowa o ngā mano,
Titiro atawhai mai ki a matou,
Ahakoa te areruia
E tangi tonu ana
Mō rātou kua wehe atu,
A, ka huri aku karu ki a rātou mā
Kua wahangū,
kua kaingia e te nguha,
e te ngārara.
Me pēhea te puta ke i a koe taku tangi hei kanikani?
Engari - ‘he rātā te rākau i takahia e te moa’.
Ko āu mahi tohu, me he tumanako te rite.
Āmine.
Lord of hosts
Look with grace
Upon we who weep still,
in this season of the hallelujah,
We weep for all
Who have passed on,
And for those who have been silenced,
consumed by war,
or by other monsters.
How can you turn our wailing into dancing?
Help us to remember
That the crushed seed can yet grow.
And our remedy is our hope in You.
Amen.
We pray for the Church
E Ihu, Jesus
You called us to be your church
Not with rules & commandments,
But with the breaking and the sharing of bread, wine and cooked fish.
You call us to be with you in the dawn’s early light,
You call to us now.
Bless this fallible body, your worldwide Church
And our many ministries in these islands.
Help us to lead each other into encounter with you,
Help us to feed others
As you have fed us.
In joy and in hope.
[Bidding and response]
You broke bread and opened our eyes,
Lord, hear our prayer.
We pray for the world
E te Wairua Tapu, Holy Spirit
Sustain this world, this land,
Our home.
Lead us and show us how to care for this creation,
Show us how to love those whom we find hard to love
Where there is war, want & ignorance,
May your voice be heard.
Where your children cry from the depths;
May your voice be heard.
Help us to hear you and obey.
[Bidding and response]
You broke bread and opened our eyes,
Lord, hear our prayer.
In the days and weeks of this Eastertide
Bless us in our need
Bless us as we seek the fullness of life in You.
Help us to embody this new reality
in every ordinary thing,
in every ordinary conversation.
As we walk the streets of the places where we live,
Enable us still to see your miracle at work.
We cannot forget
that which has passed on, and passed by,
but show us how best to live
In worship and in praise.
[Bidding and response]
You broke bread and opened our eyes,
Lord, hear our prayer.
