Little Revolutions Conference Sparks Hope and Imagination
In two gatherings in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and Ōtautahi, over 150 church leaders, planters, and everyday disciples came together for the 2025 Little Revolutions conference.
Drawing attendees from a wide range of denominations and communities, the gatherings were marked by thoughtful keynotes and practical workshops, all aimed at equipping participants for faithful witness and growth in a rapidly changing world.
Little Revolutions is designed to spark renewal and reimagine the shape of the church in Aotearoa. It includes intimate worship to robust conversations about mission, leadership, and justice.
Organiser Scottie Reeve describes the event as “a chance for church groups across Aotearoa to look at and plan for growth in this time and place.” And that’s exactly what happened. Participants were invited to wrestle with what it means to be the Church in a post-colonial, post-Christendom, post-pandemic world, where hospitality, creativity, and courageous leadership are more vital than ever.
The momentum of the conferences now turns toward the Renewal Curriculum learning programme by Catch Network.
Launching in August 2025, the curriculum is a nine-month cohort journey designed for those planting new expressions of church or seeking to lead culture change within existing communities. It includes three in-person intensives and 18 fortnightly online workshops, offering rich theological input, practical tools, and peer support for the long haul. More information is available at www.catchnetwork.org.nz.
As the dust settles on these two vibrant gatherings, one thing is clear: the Spirit is stirring among churches in Aotearoa. Small revolutions are already taking root.
