Chrism Service - Masterton

  • St Matthew's Anglican Church 37 Church Street Masterton, Wellington, 5810 New Zealand (map)

Our Chrism services come at the end of our Lenten journey, and offer a perfect opportunity for our Lenten study groups to gather at one of three Chrism services, held in three locations throughout the diocese

They are a chance for every member of our movement to gather and re-affirm our baptism vows, and for ordained clergy and the bishops to re-affirm the vows made at their ordination. It is also the time at which Bishop Justin will bless the oil to be used in the coming year for anointing the sick, and for baptisms and ordinations.

As we journey towards Easter, Chrism offers a reminder of our place in the church family: our joining together reminds us of our active role in being brothers and sisters in Christ as we recommit ourselves to our walks with Jesus.

Clergy are invited to robe in alb and red stole.
