Canon Precentor for Wellington Cathedral of St Paul

  • Anglican Movement 18 Eccleston Hill Wellington, Wellington, 6011 New Zealand (map)

The Bishop of Wellington is seeking to appoint a priest to the clergy team in the role of Canon Precentor for the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul. The role holds particular responsibility for coordinating the liturgical life of the Cathedral Community.

Although the Dean has ultimate responsibility for Cathedral worship, this is deputed on a day-to-day basis to the Precentor.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Cathedral at a pivotal moment as we develop our ministry and mission under our new Dean.

As a place of prayer and pilgrimage, liturgy and music are a key part of Wellington Cathedral’s mission and ministry. We are seeking a clergy colleague as a new Precentor who has a vision to ensure that our worship life reflects this and connects with our key priorities including our ministry of welcome to all, and our commitments to support the life of our City and mission of our Diocese, including all the schools and community groups we are connected with.

This is a full-time role.

In the first instance, please send your CV and covering letter to Jeanne Wissing, Cathedral Coordinator: admin@wellingtoncathedral.org.nz

Further details and an Application Pack will be available on request.

Closing date for applications – 7 November 2023

Interviews will be held the week of 13 November 2023
