Rev. Richard Garner RIP
Bishops Justin and Anashuya ask us to join in prayer for the friends and family of Reverend Richard Garner, of Carterton, who died on Saturday 21 September.
Richard arrived in New Zealand from the UK in 1980 with his wife Bobby and young children Miriam and Benjamin, to take up the role of Vicar of St Luke’s Greytown. He then served at the parish of Levin and at Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, before moving to the diocese of Christchurch to be Vicar of St Peter’s in Upper Riccarton. Richard and Bobby returned to the Wairarapa in their retirement, where Richard was active in priestly ministry until very recently. For a time Richard also served as Chaplain to Retired Clergy in the Wairarapa.
Richard’s funeral will be held at St Mark’s Church, Carterton, at 1pm on Friday 27 September. All welcome. Clergy are invited to robe with white stole.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
