Insurance Hub: Liability

Overview

Why do we need Liability Insurance?
Public Liability insurance covers all mission units and any trusts they manage. This type of insurance protects an organisation if someone claims they have suffered a loss that is not physical property, but something less tangible, because of the organisation’s actions or services.

In simple terms, it covers the organisation if it is legally required to pay compensation to someone who says they were harmed or disadvantaged by what the organisation did.

A good way to think about it is to ask: ‘Is there anything my organisation does that could lead to someone making a claim against us because they believe we caused them some kind of loss?’
