Faculties

A faculty is a formal authorization required for specific alterations or additions to church properties.

A faculty must be issued before:

• Any alteration (addition, reduction, or other changes) to the fabric, furniture, lighting, monuments, or ornaments of a church.

• The erection or placement of any article in a church that requires dedication or consecration.

• Furnishings, installations, monuments, or ornaments are placed in a new church, whether new or transferred from another building.

Work cannot commence until the faculty is issued, unless waived by the Diocesan Property Manager.
