We gather
Whakarongo atawhai mai
ki tā mātou īnoi,
e te Atua,
Meinga kia oti pai
te kī taurangi
ki a mātou,
me tō mātou pono mārika
ko te Karaiti tō mātou Kaiwhakaora
e noho ana kei Tou taha i te korōria,
kia noho tahi tātou
tae noa ki te mutunga o te wā;
i roto i a Ihu Karaiti, e ora ana,
i roto i te kotahitanga o te Wairua Tapu,
kotahi anō Atua, ināianei,
ā, mō ake tonu
Āmine.
Graciously hear our prayer,
O God,
that we who believe
that Christ our Saviour
is now with you in majesty,
may also experience the promise
of remaining with us always,
to the end of the age;
through the same Jesus Christ,
who is alive with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God,
now and forever.
Amen.
We pray for the Church
E te Atua, te Tama
As we remember your return to the Father,
Bless the Church in all its parts
Here and around our world.
Grant us, your followers,
The strength and steadfast joy
of Paul & Silas,
As they opened the eyes of those
In the darkest of prisons.
Grant that in hopeless places
we too bring hope,
in word and action,
to those who need it most.
All to Your glory, not ours.
[Bidding and response]
Lord, bringer of freedom
You free us from our chains.
We pray for the world
E te Atua, Holy Spirit
Be present with those who strive for war,
Those who hate,
Those who mourn,
Those who struggle to live in this world;
And those who cannot see in themselves,
Or in others,
The light of God.
Be present with those who make decisions for others;
Help them to see clearly
What they cause in the world.
Let them remember:
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.
Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
[Bidding and response]
Lord, bringer of freedom
You free us from our chains.
E te Atua, our Parent,
As we turn our hearts
to the coming of Pentecost
we keep with us
the knowledge of joy
in the risen Christ
who is with you
Be you ever present with us,
Bless our families
Bless all of our many communities
Bless the strangers among us,
And those who feel like strangers.
Grant us joy in each one another.
‘And let everyone who is thirsty come.
Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift.’
[Bidding and response]
Lord, bringer of freedom
You free us from our chains.
