Prayers: April 26, 2026
St Mark the Evangelist/Maka Tapu te Kaituhi Rongopai
Taken from/inspired by Isaiah 62:6-12, Psalm 119:1-8, Acts 15:36-40, and Mark 13:9-13
Bidding: [We] will obey your decrees;
Response: ...do not utterly forsake [us].
[based on Psalm 119:8]
The Lord has made a proclamation
to the ends of the earth:
“Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your Saviour comes!
See, his reward is with him,
and his recompense accompanies him.’”
They will be called the Holy People,
the Redeemed of the Lord;
and you will be called Sought After,
the City No Longer Deserted.
[Isaiah 16:11-12]
Let us pray.
Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the Lord.
Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart—
they do no wrong
but follow his ways.
You have laid down precepts
that are to be fully obeyed.
[Psalm 119:1-4]
Heavenly Father, direct our communities according to your Spirit
[silence]
Bidding: [We] will obey your decrees;
Response: ...do not utterly forsake [us].
Whenever you are…do not worry beforehand about what to say.
Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
[from Mark 13:11]
Lord, shadow the church Your ways; Teach us your words.
[silence]
Bidding: [We] will obey your decrees;
Response: ...do not utterly forsake [us].
The Lord has sworn by his right hand
and by his mighty arm:
“Never again will I give your grain
as food for your enemies,
and never again will foreigners drink the new wine
for which you have toiled;
but those who harvest it will eat it
and praise the Lord,
and those who gather the grapes will drink it
in the courts of my sanctuary.”
Lord, creation longs for your justice and righteousness;
May Your justice and peace reign. [silence]
Bidding: [We] will obey your decrees;
Response: ...do not utterly forsake [us].
Good shepherd of the sheep, by whom the lost are sought and guided into the fold;
feed us and we shall be satisfied,
heal us and we shall be whole,
and lead us that we may be with you,
with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
where you reign one God forever.
Amen.
