Preparation

E te Atua aroha

Loving God

Titiro atawhai mai

ki a rātou kua wehe atu ki te pō,

Whata mā, Tarāti mā,

te rangatira, te marea,

ki ngā whānau hoki e pōuri ana.

Titiro aroha mai

ki a mātou te hunga ora tonu.

Look kindly upon our people,

who have passed into the night,

the great and the ordinary.

Look kindly upon their whānau who mourn

and upon we who remain.

For the Church

E te te Hepara Pai,

Nōu hoki te kotinga

Good shepherd,

and Lord of the harvest -

You have compassion

for the harassed and helpless;

and we Your Church

are Your hands in the world;

your workers for the harvest;

grant us a work to do,

grant that we be unafraid to do it,

shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

May we abound in Your compassion.

Christ died for us all

To create in us

the heart of something new;

something great.

Bless us, Your church in the world.

Freely we have received; may we freely give.

Source of all hope and all harvest, hear our prayer.

For the world

Wairua Tapu

Through us

And with us

grant hope to all those who suffer in the world.

Comfort all who suffer illness, unhappiness, and fear;

all who suffer under conflict and injustice;

Lift up those who have no power,

and guide and prod those who have too much,

to remember the source of all power.

Source of all hope and all harvest, hear our prayer.

Our communities

Bless our homes, our workplaces,

our places of community, learning and gathering.

Help us to love those who are easy to love

and those who are hard to love.

May You love work within us all, just the same.

Where suspicion and dissension threaten,

help us to find pathways to trust and understanding.

Source of all hope and all harvest, hear our prayer.
