Ngā Karakia Sunday 27th of April 2025
2nd Sunday of Easter (Low Sunday)/ Te Rātapu Tuarua o te Aranga
Prayers taken from/inspired by Acts 5:27-32, Psalm 118:14-29, Revelation 1:4-8, John 20:19-31, and ANZPB
Bidding: The Lord is my strength and song,
Response: …He has become my salvation.
[Psalm 118:14]
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever!
[Revelation 1: 5B-6]
Let us pray.
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
[John 20:19-20]
Lord Jesus, you are among us.
May our communities know the joy of your resurrection;
bless us with hope.
Bidding: The Lord is my strength and song,
Response: …He has become my salvation.
…We must obey God rather than human beings! The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross. God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins. We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
[Acts 5:29B-32)
We pray for the church.
Embolden us to proclaim your resurrection;
may your Spirit guide our ministries.
Bidding: The Lord is my strength and song,
Response: …He has become my salvation.
The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
This was the Lord’s doing;
It is marvellous in our eyes.
This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
[Psalm 118: 22-24]
We pray for the world.
We pray that we would delight in your creation,
and work toward your justice.
Bidding: The Lord is my strength and song,
Response: …He has become my salvation.
Almighty God, by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ you have broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light; grant that we who have been raised with him may triumph over all temptation and rejoice in the hope of eternal glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
