Ngā Karakia 18 May 2025
Te Rātapu Tuarima o te Aranga
Prayers inspired by original prayers; Acts 11:1-18; Ps 148, Rev 21:1-6; and John 13:31-35.
We gather
E te Atua,
Te Runga Rawa
Te Atua māhaki,
Tau mai tō koa,
I te rerenga o tōu aroha
tētahi ki tētahi;
Tau mai tō koa
i te whiwhinga aroha
kia whakatupua
he wairua whirinaki.
Mā te aroha
ka tika, ka koa tā mātou mahi.
E īnoi ana mātou
i roto i a Īhu Karaiti, tō mātou Ariki,
Āmine.
Lord on high,
Our gentle God;
Grant us joy
In giving Your love,
One to another;
Let us be joyful,
so that, in receiving that love.
Within us
a spirit of trust and faithfulness grows;
By loving you,
All that we do,
we do
With justice,
and with joy.
This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
We pray for the Church
E Ihu, Jesus
By love we are marked out,
By love we are to be known as your disciples,
But sometimes we fail to love as you loved us.
Sometimes we fail to love at all.
How can we be your worldwide Church,
Your light in the whole world
When we fail to love?
So, help us, Lord.
In every small parish,
In every ordinary ministry,
To love our peoples and our places.
To show forth your death and your resurrection life.
Thank you, Lord.
[Bidding and response]
You are the Alpha and the Omega:
Lord, give us your water from the spring of life.
We pray for the world
E te Wairua Tapu, Holy Spirit
Help us to love your creation,
Including ourselves.
Help us to love our Creator
Like the sun and moon;
like the shining stars,
Like the glad hills
Like the oceans that clap their hands.
We pray, Holy Spirit, for your work
in changing the hearts
of those who wreak war, those who sell hate,
those who seek wealth beyond reason.
Use your people to be Your hope in the world.
[Bidding and response]
You are the Alpha and the Omega:
Lord, give us your water from the spring of life.
E te Atua, Lord,
In the remaining days of this Eastertide
Bless us in our need,
Be present with us,
In our homes, with those we love;
In our communities
You love us that we may know how to love others,
Today, and in the days to come.
[Bidding and response]
You are the Alpha and the Omega:
Lord, give us your water from the spring of life.
