All Saints’ Vision for Youth and Young Whānau

With a vision focussed on youth and young whanau, All Saints Hataitai are reimagining how their church facilities might contribute to wellness in their community.

Parish Priest Rev. Guy Benton says, “We want to create a space where people can gather for fun, community meals, socialising, after school clubs, youth mentoring and development, evening entertainment in the form of concerts and inspiring talks, parenting groups and more. We’re calling it the Youth and Young Whānau Hub. And the vision for it came about after we asked some hard questions about how our parish might be present in our community,” he said.

They are responding by extending an invitation to the community around them that goes beyond booking their spaces for parish activities and community groups.

He says, “Our hope for Hub is that it witnesses to the love of God for our neighbourhood. We’d love to be a place where everyone in our community, but particularly youth and young whānau, can gather to build relationship and learn from one another. It’s the whole reason we’re doing it.”

Guy says they are partnering with the grassroots platform, Global InspiredBy, for people to support the programs offered at All Saints and be involved through special access to recordings of concerts and conversations. Click here to find out more.
