Safe People
Training Resources
We are committed to being a safe church. As followers of Jesus, we believe that every person is made in God’s image. We want to create spaces where everyone knows they will be safe, especially from abuse of any kind.
If you are in immediate danger - call 111 and ask for the police.
If you have experienced misconduct, you can make a complaint through the ministry standards commission.
For concerns or complaints involving someone within the Anglican Church, please email: registrar@ministrystandards.org

Sacred Spaces Safe People - Introduction Video
While we want everyone to engage with the message of this introductory video, it may be better for some to engage with it in a non-communal setting, or parents may want to watch the video and then talk about it with their children. Nonetheless our hope is that everyone in our churches will engage with this content, so we encourage people to do that safely and mindful of those who are in the room.

Safety Modules
All people in leadership positions are to receive training in the Safety material.
We suggest that when hosting a group of people to watch these videos you:
communicate at a high-level what the video is about before you share it.
identify a pastoral person who people can talk to if they need to after.
create a small break in the meeting or service to give people a chance to exit in a dignified way if they want to remove themselves or their children from the setting where this is shown. You could also say ‘if at some point you need to remove yourself, feel free to do that, that is ok’.
Beginning with Module 1, follow the material through to Module 4 using the information downloads for each module.

Frame it as part of discipleship and hospitality, not compliance: safe churches are welcoming churches. Share real (anonymised) stories, link it to protecting the vulnerable as a gospel value, and have leadership model the behaviour.
