Rev Margaret Barber RIP

Bishops Justin and Anashuya ask us to join in prayer for the friends and family of Reverend Margaret Barber who passed away last week.

Margaret was ordained as a priest in 1988, and was among the first generation of women to enter the priesthood in the Wellington Diocese. She embraced her calling while balancing the demands of parenthood, initially serving as a lay reader and a lay assistant to the vicar.

Margaret’s ministry spanned several parishes, including St Matthew’s in Masterton and St Cuthbert’s in Eketāhuna, before she became a supporting priest at the Church of the Epiphany, where she served until her retirement.

The funeral will be held today (Wednesday) at 1 pm at St. Matthews  Church, Masterton.

May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
