Ordination Training Manager - Ian Scarlet
It is wonderful to introduce Ian Scarlet, our first ever volunteer Ordination Training Manager. He will link the process of discerning Ordinands through to completion of Ordination Training. Ian will work closely with the Ordination training team of Martin Robinson, John Crawshaw, Judith Wigglesworth and Stuart Goodin, as well as John Hughes, Director of Ordinands. A crucial part of Ian’s role will be regular communication with those who are mentoring Ordinands in their particular ministry contexts to provide regular updates on progress for all relevant parties.
Ian, and wife Jenny, have been members of the St Luke’s congregation at Waikanae Anglican since 2010. Before moving to Waikanae, they were actively involved with Elim Church of New Zealand, where Ian’s roles included assistant pastor, pastor, and Bible College lecturer. Ian is passionate about quality in theological education and training, having early-career experience as a secondary school mathematics teacher and, recently, as Principal Advisor for tertiary education approvals at the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. His own theological education included an exciting mid-career relocation of his family to Pasadena, California, to complete a MA in the School of World Mission at Fuller Theological Seminary.
