Moving On - Ven Pete Watson

Ven. Pete Watson and whānau are moving to the Diocese of Auckland at the end of the year.

Here’s Pete’s announcement from Facebook:

“It was announced yesterday that I have accepted the invitation to become the vicar of St Pauls, Symonds Street in Auckland.

We feel this is God’s call on our lives; we have prayed, fasted, talked to trusted mentors, read scripture, and wrestled deeply, asked hard questions of ourselves and of God. It was a tough decision to make however, it became clear this is what God is asking us to do. The move has the added benefit for us of being closer to extended family. Ange and I have chosen to remain until the end of the year to strengthen the ministries that I lead within our parish, the Trinity schools and Wairarapa region. There is a lot happening here and the parish is in good health.

This news may come as a shock to some of you; I have had the opportunity to talk to Bishop Justin. He is actively praying for the future of St Matthew Church so that in the years to come it will continue to thrive. The church leadership team will lead the process of finding my replacement.”

Our prayers and blessings remain with Pete and Ange during this time of transition.
