In Memoriam - Reverend John Dermot (Derm) Buchanan

Bishop Justin asks us to join in prayer for the friends and family of Rev. John Dermot (Derm) Buchanan who passed away last week.

Derm was born in 1930 and raised in Feilding, and started a career as a wool buyer in Waikato. He attended St John’s College, and was ordained deacon (1965) and priest (1966) in the Diocese of Waikato. He served in various parishes in Waikato and Wellington dioceses, and then in hospital chaplaincy. CPE formed an important part of his education and ministry, and led him for a time to the US. In 1985 he was accredited as a Full Supervisor in CPE. With the death of his wife Aileen in 2017 he moved to Palmerston North to be closer to family, and was an active member of the congregation of St Peter’s there.

Derm’s funeral will be held at St Peter’s, Ruahine St, Palmerston North at 10.30am on Wednesday 4 May.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
