Equip Your Church to Engage with Te Tiriti

Belonging in This Land: Treaty Basics from a Christian Perspective is a faith-informed resource designed to help churches grow in their understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

As conversation about the Treaty continues in the media, politics, and our churches, now is a vital time to upskill our faith communities so the Church can speak with wisdom, humility, and integrity in the conversations shaping Aotearoa’s future.

A Trusted Resource for Churches

Used by over 300 church groups across Aotearoa in the past year, Belonging in This Land is a two-part video-based course produced by Common Grace Aotearoa in partnership with Karuwhā Trust and Te Manu Hononga – the Sir Paul Reeves Centre.

You’ll hear from respected presenters including Jay Ruka (Dean of Taranaki Cathedral) and former Archbishop David Moxon, who together offer a bicultural, gospel-centred lens on our shared story, the history of the Treaty, and its ongoing call on our lives today.

Why This Matters Now

In the lead-up to the Māori wards referenda in local elections this October, this course offers a solid grounding in Treaty understanding. It helps congregations engage with these issues in a way that’s informed, prayerful, and rooted in our Christian commitment to justice and relationship.

Easy to Host, Meaningful to Share

Hosting is simple—invite a few friends into your home, or run it through your church’s regular small groups or adult education. You’ll be provided with:

  • Two 90-minute video sessions

  • Discussion questions and a printable host guide

  • Ongoing support and encouragement from the Common Grace team

This is a free resource, with a suggested koha of $25 per person to support continued resource development.
