Become a Foster Parent

Is foster care something that God has placed on your heart recently or in times past? This is a challenging but hugely rewarding mission. This is a chance to show our Father’s love and care for a child that has experienced grief in their young life.

We would love to hear from you if you would like to know more about what the journey of foster care could look like.

Jo Berrington-Hince is the foster parent recruiter for the Open Home Foundation in the Manawatū.

Open Home Foundation has a great need for more committed foster parents within our region.

The recent State of the Nation report for 2025 that came out from the Salvation Army stated that the number of children who are victims of abuse and neglect rose in 2024 and the number of children going into state care increased (Barber & Ika, 2025).
