Welcoming Refugee Families – Donate to our storage fund
We Need Your Support Today
The Diocese of Wellington is committed to supporting former refugee families as they begin new lives in Aotearoa New Zealand. Thanks to the incredible efforts of parish volunteers, we’ve been able to furnish homes with care and dignity. However, we currently face a challenge: the funds we use to hire storage for donated furniture and household goods have run out while the need for storage remains high.
Every month, parish volunteers across the diocese give their time and energy to this vital mahi: collecting, sorting, and setting up homes that welcoem former refugee families. In the past year alone, our Anglican Movement parishes and schools helped resettle 27 households with 90 individuals.
As Phil McCarthy, who coordinates this work, shares:
“The cost of storing donated household goods remains a significant challenge. Without storage, we can’t keep the furniture and essentials that make these houses into homes.”
Your financial support ensures this ministry can continue to thrive and grow. Every donation helps us meet practical needs and live out our Gospel call to welcome the stranger.
