Waitārere Church Finds Temporary Home at Surf Club
The congregation of St Aidan's in Waitārere Beach has found an unexpected blessing in the midst of necessary renovations.
As work begins to replace the church's asbestos roof, parishioners have been welcomed into the beautiful Waitārere Beach Surf Life Saving Community Facility for their weekly services.
Rev. Hannah Rowan, expressed gratitude for the arrangement. "We were delighted to have the opportunity to meet at the surf club and enjoy God's magnificent creation during our worship!" she said.
The temporary relocation has solved a pressing issue for the church. "The big question was where to meet while the roof was off," Rev. Rowan explained. She added, "Many thanks to the surf club for allowing our use."
This collaborative effort between the local church and the surf club demonstrates the community's spirit of cooperation in times of need. As St Aidan's undergoes its necessary repairs, its congregation continues to gather, with an added view of the beach as a backdrop to their services.
Hannah summed up the situation, stating, "It’s been such a blessing to use the Waitārere Beach Surf Life Saving Community Facility, we’re very thankful.
