Vicar – Peninsula Parish

The Anglican Parish of Saint Aidan’s and Saint George’s (“Peninsula Parish”) seeks to appoint a full-time vicar.

You will be committed to furthering God’s kingdom in the Peninsula Parish spanning the sunny eastern suburbs of Miramar, Maupuia, Strathmore and Seatoun.  In this mission, you will be supported by a skilled vestry, including a non-stipend Priest and committed multi-generational parishioners.   You will be an ordained priest with wholehearted faith and good interpersonal skills and energy to lead us as we grow our whānau and focus on God’s love in our local community, and beyond.

We are a Parish centred in our vibrant neighbourhood, which sees a lot of foot traffic from local schools, shops and services.  The church houses Shop89, a second-hand shop which attracts folks from all walks of life for a cup of tea and chat, and we have several outward/discipleship-focused ministries such as a drop-in café, youth group and midweek services.  You will work closely with the Strathmore Community Church – an outward-focused church meeting in the Strathmore Plunket rooms – which we support, and the Discipleship House – located beside the vicarage and home to three young men supporting the church’s vision.

Our Parish has experienced several years of change, with the departure of one Vicar after five years’ service, followed by a fixed-term appointment of two co-Vicars who are moving to a different Diocese in February 2026. We are seeking a period of stability, regathering, deepening our roots and recommitting to our vision of evangelism, discipleship and growth with a particular focus on children aged 0-12 years and their families.

Peninsula Parish is situated on Te Motu Kairangi (the Miramar Peninsula) to the east of Wellington City Centre and Wellington International Airport. It has excellent bus services to the city, plus bike lanes linking to the city and suburbs. The Peninsula has several lovely beaches and many walking tracks. There are excellent schooling choices and a thriving and multicultural local community with a good mix of young and old.

Further information, including the Peninsula Parish Profile, is available on our website https://www.peninsulaparish.nz/ and you are welcome to come and visit us!

If you are sensing a call to be our next vicar, please send a covering letter and CV to the Bishops’ Office (bishopsoffice@anglicanmovement.nz) by 30 January 2026. Our hope is that we may recruit the right person for this role with a start date of mid to late February 2026; however, we are willing to be somewhat flexible if necessary to secure the right person for the job.
