Training Day - don’t miss out
Two training days down, two to go. If you’re on the fence about coming along to our Kāpiti or Palmerston North days here is what people had to say about Wellington and Wairarapa.
“We had a good turnout of people from our parish (10 people which is 25% of the congregation!) and training day really gave us exactly what we needed. God really showed up for our people in an encouraging way. We’re all having dinner next week to discuss everything we learned,” said Rev. Rebecca Apperley from Newlands-Paparangi.
“It was a great opportunity to connect with the wider Anglican family.”
“The Wairarapa afternoon was great. Because of its more local nature the workshops were really tailored to what we need in our community. We had 85 people from across the 5 churches, which is a fantastic turnout.”
“We had an educational and rewarding time at the training day at Samuel Marsden Collegiate, Karori. I’d like to highlight that it is valuable not just for vicars or church leaders, but also for congregants so if you have time, I’d recommend that you consider attending future training days.” said Mike Rans from the Onslow Anglicans.
“What an amazing Training Day we had. Being our first ever opportunity to host, there are plenty of amazing highlights. The collaboration from the various church whānau made all the jobs much easier. It was great seeing the individual ‘teams’ work around and with each other to ensure all our manuhiri needs we met. The variety of food, activities and workshops meant all age groups were catered for. From school playgrounds, bouncy castle, gorgeous weather that allowed opportunities to network outside, we were truly blessed. Thanks again to Daile and the Diocese plus all our very able and willing church whanau in the Wairarapa,” said Rev. Mannie Marara.
“I looked around the room in one of the workshops I was in to see a truly intergenerational spread – from young children through to 70+. I found that really encouraging.”
Rev. Pete Watson sums it up well: “Sunday's training day saw churches worship in the morning from Martinborough to Masterton then come together for lunch and then spend time in worship and teaching together. When we haven't been able to do this for so long, the room was full of energy and joy. Everyone carried away the sense of being part of a wider family. The old saying that 'a rising tide lifts all boats' is true. We were all uplifted as one people together as the Diocese family on Sunday.”
