St Tom’s Wheels Team Journey Inspires New Musical Project
The Wheels team from St Tom’s, Parish of Wellington South, has put to music their experience of ministering ‘on the road’ throughout Aotearoa.
The Wheels team is a collection of families with roots in St Tom’s Church in Newtown, who regularly travel Aotearoa (New Zealand) on mission.
Every summer and at many events in between, they pack up and head off to festivals and offer prayer ministry.
Tākaka in Golden Bay has been a regular stop. The Wheels team turn up in house trucks and busses and mix it with festival goers and prayerfully seek God’s Spirit to meet them.
Isaac Minogue, from the Wheels team says, “Several years ago, a few of us from St Tom's Church began to gather and pray — not with a clear sense of what God was calling us to, but an invitation to just say yes.”
The group took a leap of faith, deciding to take their families on the road.
"We took our families, and in many cases, our entire homes, on the road, trusting that God would prepare the way ahead, and put the wheels on the bus, quite literally," Isaac explains.
Out of that the Wheels team was born.
"It turns out that God is doing something quite extraordinary in Aotearoa. He's calling his children home and revealing his father heart in the most unlikely of places. We've seen it happen," Isaac says.
Their travels across Aotearoa led to unexpected revelations and spiritual growth.
These experiences have inspired a collection of songs, which the group now aims to share with a wider audience.
"God has already been using these songs in significant ways, and our hope is that they still have more life, joy, and hope to bring," shares Isaac.
He adds, "We're raising money in order to record them professionally and share them with you."
They’re reaching out to the community for support in bringing this vision to fruition. A Givealittle fundraiser has been launched to cover the production costs of the EP.
