Short Course in Christian Living: Unfurling the Koru of Faith

For many years, the Cursillo movement has offered Christians across Aotearoa a simple but powerful invitation: to deepen their faith, grow in community, and live out the Gospel with renewed purpose.

In 2024, we paused our usual annual weekend. In March, a small group from our diocese travelled to Christchurch to experience a “Short Course in Christian Living,” a refreshed, two‑day adaptation of the traditional Cursillo weekend. Mixed‑gender, self‑catered, and flexible in format, it offered a gentle, contemporary way for people to reconnect with Christian discipleship in community, and the experience was deeply encouraging.

Inspired by this, Wellington Cursillo will host its own two‑day course at Magnificat, Featherston, from Friday evening to Sunday, 8–10 May 2026. With the theme “Unfurling the koru of faith,” the weekend is open to anyone seeking renewal, companionship, or space to explore their faith more deeply. The course will be quite different from the previous model, whilst maintaining the core principles.

We believe this approach continues to offer our diocesan family a meaningful way to nurture everyday discipleship in a supportive, prayerful community.
