Livestream Link for Archbishop of Canterbury Installation

We invite you to join with the wider Anglican Communion in prayer, celebration, and thanksgiving as Dame Sarah Mullally is installed as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury.

This historic occasion will take place at Canterbury Cathedral on 25 March 2026, the Feast of the Annunciation, marking a significant new chapter in the life and leadership of our global Church.

For us here in Aotearoa New Zealand, the installation service will be livestreamed in the early hours of Thursday morning, beginning at 4:00 am NZDT. Though the hour is early, we warmly encourage communities and individuals across the Diocese to tune in—whether live or later in the day—to witness this remarkable moment of commissioning and consecrated leadership at the heart of the Anglican tradition.

The Church of England has made the full service available to watch online, along with resources to help you follow along and pray with the global church. A downloadable Order of Service is provided on their website, along with answers to frequently asked questions about the liturgy, procession, guests, vestments, readings, and the distinction between this installation and the earlier Confirmation of Election at St Paul’s Cathedral.

This installation is not only historic because Archbishop Sarah will be the first woman to hold the See of Canterbury; it is also a moment that invites us to reflect on the long‑standing mission and vocation of the Archbishop of Canterbury. As the spiritual leader of the Anglican Communion, the Archbishop’s ministry encompasses pastoral oversight, global relationships, ecumenical partnerships, and a leadership role rooted in prayer, justice, and reconciliation. These responsibilities—deeply tied to the ancient heritage of the Church—continue to shape our shared identity as Anglicans around the world.

We encourage parish leaders, ministry units, and home groups to consider gathering later on Thursday to watch the service together, pray for Archbishop Sarah, and give thanks for the unity we share across continents and cultures. As a Diocese committed to following Jesus on mission, we celebrate new leadership that calls us again toward compassion, courage, and Christ‑centred service.

Watch the livestream and access the service resources on the Church of England website.

Let us join in prayer for Archbishop Sarah and for God’s renewing work throughout the Anglican Communion.

Ngā mihi nui,
