Equip your church for upcoming Māori ward referendums

Between 09 September and 11 October, 42 councils will hold referendums on whether to keep Māori wards, including every part of the Wellington Diocese bar Upper Hutt Council.

Common Grace Aotearoa are inviting churches to step into this moment with courage and care, and to uphold the promise of Te Tiriti.

They’ve created free resources to help those in your church learn, reflect, and prayerfully consider how to vote in upcoming local referendums. From 04 August, you can access a 6-minute video for Sunday services and a two-hour small group workshop featuring Māori voices, church leaders, and interactive tools.

This is an opportunity to follow Christ’s call to love our neighbours, uphold justice, and seek reconciliation.

Plan a time to engage your faith community before postal voting opens on 09 September. Learn more and sign up to receive the resources at https://www.commongrace.nz/keepmaoriwards#resources
