32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Taken from/inspired by Ruth 3:1-5,4:13-17, Psalm 127, Heb 9:24-28, Mark 12:38-44 and the ANZPB

Bidding: Hear our prayer;
Response: Let our cry come to you.

 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.

[Hebrews 9:24]
Let us pray.

We lift our communities to you, Lord,
 Creator and Sustainer.
Renew our lives together,
that we may give out of what we have
and extend friendship and love
to the image-bearers around us

[silence]

Bidding: Hear our prayer;
Response: Let our cry come to you.

 Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.
[Psalm 127:1]

Gracious God, strengthen your church.
Lift our eyes to our Great High Priest, your Son

and teach us humility.
Bless our leaders and laypeople,
as we join your work in the world.

[silence]

Bidding: Hear our prayer;
Response: Let our cry come to you.

 We pray for the world we live in
and all of creation.
Grant wisdom to those who lead,
justice to those crying out,
and rest to those in need.

[silence]

Bidding: Hear our prayer;
Response: Let our cry come to you.

Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

[Hebrews 9:27-28]

We praise you, God, that the light of Christ shines in our darkness and is never overcome; show us the way we must go to eternal day; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
