Sunday 7 July 2024

14th Sunday of Ordinary Time
Taken from/inspired by 2 Samuel 5: 1-5, 9-10, Psalm 48, 2 Corinthians 12:2-10, Mark 6: 1-3, and the ANZPB

Bidding: For this God is our God for ever and ever;

Response: he will be our guide even to the end.

We pray for our communities.
Thank you for the family that you have created, and that we are adopted into.
Make us attentive to the needs of the people around us,
and the lonely prophets in our midst.
May we welcome words of conviction from unexpected places.

Bidding: For this God is our God for ever and ever;

Response: he will be our guide even to the end.

We pray for our church. Be with our leaders, and those whose participation is small and unseen. Inspire compassion within us;
your power is made perfect in our weakness.

Bidding: For this God is our God for ever and ever;

Response: he will be our guide even to the end.

We pray for the world, and the whole of creation.
Your right hand is filled with righteousness;
may those in need experience your justice.

Draw us into your work of repairing the world. Comfort those who mourn.

Bidding: For this God is our God for ever and ever;

Response: he will be our guide even to the end.

Christ of the new covenant,
give us the happiness to share,
with full measure, pressed down,
shaken together and running over,
all that you give us.
Hear this prayer for your name’s sake.

Amen.
