28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Taken from/inspired by Job 23:1-9, 16-17, Psalm 22:1-15, Hebrews 4:12-16, Mark 10:17-31 and the ANZPB

 Bidding: Lord, hear us
Response: Lord, hear our prayer

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. [Hebrews 4:16]

 Father, draw close to us.
Remind us of the promise of your Kingdom;
the first will be last and the last will be first.

Enliven our neighbourhoods with your hope,
That we may welcome many into your family.
Comfort those who cry out,
and draw them close to you.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? [Psalm 22: 1]

[silence]

Bidding: Lord, hear us
Response: Lord, hear our prayer

Jesus Christ, our High Priest,
Direct your church.
Show us how to live and act with humility,
wisdom, and courage.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. [Hebrews 4:13] Let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. [Hebrews 4:14c]

Remind us that, even us in the face of darkness,
we are not silenced. [Job 23:17]

[silence]

Bidding: Lord, hear us
Response: Lord, hear our prayer

Eternal Spirit,
The world cries out
for comfort and  justice.
Where people have been poured out like water,
Replenish and renew them.
Reveal yourself to creation.

[silence]

Bidding: Lord, hear us
Response: Lord, hear our prayer

God of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things, graft in our hearts the love of your name, increase in us true religion, nourish in us all goodness, and of your great mercy keep us in the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Amen.
