Around the age of 8, God spoke to me in a dream. He showed me an image of me standing facing a crowd of his people. I then asked God why I was facing the wrong way, I wanted to be in that crowd. God then handed me a basket of chocolates and asked me to give them out and care for his people. This image has stuck with me as I hold it as a deep call to care for and encourage the people of God.

In 2019, after a tumultuous season of poor mental health following my studies I heard God call me to move from Auckland to Wellington. As my Auckland church prayed for me, God spoke through a prophetic voice in our church saying: "As you go forth in my name I will go with you, I will go before you and prepare the way for you. You are there by my design and I will show you what you must do.”

After arriving in Wellington, I accidently landed at Blueprint where God invited me on a journey of quitting my job as a lawyer to work at Blueprint and undertake theological education.

Through this time I felt God prompting me, naggingly asking me to consider ordination. Obedient to the words spoken over me as I left Auckland and this calling I had heard as a child, I prayed and fasted asking God what he was calling me to.

God then gave me another image. It was the image of a table so long that you could not see the other end of it, and at one end of it I broke bread. In that moment, I felt the call of God to ordination. More specifically, it was a call to invite people to this beautiful banquet - one where we are in the words of Henri Nouwen “chosen, broken, blessed and given”.

As I finish my time leading Blueprint Church, I feel deeply held by this call on my life. Holly and I are incredibly excited to continue to invite people to the banquet as we move to Tītahi Bay.
