Andrew Lim

I became a Christian in Singapore at 15 years old during a Gospel rally held by the evangelist Luis Palau. Like John Wesley, I felt my heart strangely warmed and I was convicted of my sins and also reassured that in Christ there is forgiveness and removal of my shame. Later, I went on a short-term missions trip to Thailand while a student at teacher’s college and subsequently said yes to God’s calling to give my life for cross-cultural missions.

God sent me to New Zealand to minister cross culturally among English-kiwis, migrants and international students. In Wellington, I am excited to join a diocese who is  committed to missions and developing intercultural communities. I believe in developing/transforming and if needed, planting new churches that reach out across cultures and generations. As a Chinese-kiwi, I value collaboration within and by communities. I believe that in unity we best express God's reconciling love.

I am committed to ministering among the students on University campuses to raise generations of church leaders who would give their lives to loving God and reaching the lost. This vision energises my work as the International Chaplain at Chaplaincy VUW.  My wife and I belong to the loving missional community of the Anglican Chinese Mission.

The Ordination Service for Andrew Lim will be on Saturday 23 November at 2 pm at Wellington Cathedral of St Paul.
