Thy Kingdom Come: It’s Coming!

Each year as a Diocese we take part in the global movement of prayer, Thy Kingdom Come. Running from Ascension to Pentecost (13-23 May), it’s a focus point in which we hold before God five friends or family to come to know Jesus.

The team leading our movement’s response to Thy Kingdom Come have put together some great resources to help you and your parish go deeper in prayer. You can find these here, all adaptable to your local context. You could:

  • Use the daily prayer liturgies to pray every day with friends and family in your own time.

  • Join with one of the Zoom prayer rhythms. Why not try the intergenerational prayers on Wednesday and Sunday coming from our Cathedral Café Church community house in Thorndon?

  • Organise a 24-hour prayer vigil in your parish or mission unit.

Over Thy Kingdom Come we are encouraged to pray for five friends or family to come to know God.

Praying for others to know Jesus is one of the most powerful things that we can do, because it can bring transformation in their lives. Thy Kingdom Come offers us the opportunity to start to develop the rhythms and habits we need to persevere in our prayer for family and friends.

We would love to be able to share news big and small of how you have engaged in prayer for others over this time, and any stories of God’s transformation in your life through this call to prayer.
